This series of works is concerned with the crystallization of home as a complex idea. The
interior of found seashells are used as the sub straight for graphite drawings of geodesic domelike
shapes. The shells are the remains of an exoskeleton, which once housed the body of small
sea animals. The drawings refer to the work of the 18th century architect Claude-Nicolas
Ledoux, known for linking design theory to common domestic structures, such as houses and
town gates. Merged, they offer the viewer a glimpse into a discarded house that illustrates a
utopian one.
The myth of the shell as a listening device, to hear the otherworldly sounds of the ocean, also
suggests that intangible truths that can be understood, if one listens carefully enough.
