"High on the list of our contemporary distractions and pleasures is caffeine, and in New York City the take-out coffee cup is ubiquitous. The world becomes our circus as we tread the streets of the city energized and perhaps even nourished by lattes and Frappucinos. Used paper coffee cups have been my principal site for art-making over the last five years and now the very shape of the take-out cup has infiltrated my flat compositions.
In this group of three canvases and a matching painted cup, the circus and the circular have merged in a theme and variation of acrobatic shapes and colors."
