Three Grids
Megan Klim
gauze, encaustic medium, metal grid, pencil and oil stick on wood, 24" x 24";  SOLD
Exhibited at Village West in Slow Art Fall 2019

I have always been drawn to work that showcases the artist's hand and the materials chosen. Adding the element of repetition to illustrate a process, becomes the art itself. The repeated physical action is meditative as well as frustrating at times. It demands patience and fortitude.

The conversation between the various surfaces and textures that appear by mark making, create a visual tension. In Three Soft Grids, the cloth is pulled through the grids, breaking through them; softening them. There is an underlying structure established that I am compelled to dispel and redefine.
