Peter Gynd is a fifth generation artist, independent curator, and the director at Lesley Heller Gallery in New York City's Lower East Side. Originally from Vancouver Canada, Gynd has exhibited in both Canada and the US. Notable exhibitions curated by Gynd include a permanent exhibition at the Foundation Center, NY; an acclaimed two-person presentation at SPRING/BREAK Art Show (2015); and group exhibitions at Present Company, NY; NARS Foundation, NY; the Northside Festival, NY; Lesley Heller Workspace, NY; and at the Dynamo Arts Association, Vancouver Canada. Peter Gynd has been a guest critic/consultant/visitor at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), Residencies Unlimited, Kunstraum, and ChaNorth Artist Residency, and a guest juror at 440 Gallery and Sweet Lorraine Gallery.

In his artistic practice, Gynd approaches the landscape much as a conceptual question or ideal notion. Not fundamentally concerned with a literal representation of a place, Gynd's work becomes more an exploration of landscape as identity. Gynd studied old masters oil painting techniques with his mother and at the Vancouver Academy of Art before receiving a BFA in Glass from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2006. In 2011, Gynd relocated to New York, setting up a studio and curatorial practice.

Peter Gynd has exhibited works in the US and Canada at galleries and institutions including, Ground Floor Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Lesley Heller Workspace, New York, NY; Equity Gallery, New York, NY; Vancouver Island University Exhibition Center, Powell River, Canada; New Jersey City University Galleries, Jersey City, NJ; Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans, LA; 221A Artist Run Center, Vancouver, Canada; and the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall, Vancouver, Canada.

Peter Gynd lives and works in New York City.
