Egg tempera on panel; 14 x 10 inches

On my small panels I use the ancient technique of egg tempera, where the
pigments are embedded in egg yolk rather than linseed oil, a medium used by
all painters before the 15th century and the brothers van Eyck. I use it on my small panels, which I
consider my sketch books, where I experiment new variations of looking into
reality. -- Gian Berto Vanni
