Cathy Ellis participated in Slow Art in Fall 2019 at Village West.

Cathy Ellis is an artist who lives and works just north of Los Angeles in a studio next to Cal State Channel Islands where she teaches painting and foundations.

She has created site-specific pieces for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara and the Glass Box Gallery, UCSB and has exhibited nationally at venues including Liquid Spaces/Sherwood Gallery, San Francisco, The Cube, Boulder, CO, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Los Angeles, 186 Carpenter, Providence, RI, The San Diego Art Institute, Minan Gallery, Open Mind Art Space and Elephant Art Space Los Angeles.

Awards and recognition include the Felix Hendrickson Scholarship in Painting, the Levitan Arts Fellowship, the Howard Fenton Award for Painting, the 2014 Teaching Fellowship in the College of Creative Studies, UCSB, and a nomination for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's SECA Award. Cathy has attended artist residencies with funding at the Vermont Studio Center and the Anderson Ranch Art Center.
