from Slow Art

Sharela Bonfield participated in Slow Art in Fall 2019 at Village West.

Sharela May Bonfield (born 1988, Kingston, Jamaica) is a Brooklyn based artist.

Sharela uses textile art as a catalyst to explore the ambiguities of language, popular culture and race. She is intrigued with the intimacy of textiles; the texture, the grid of the weave and the cultural roles of the medium. Ms. Bonfield's work often focuses on her perception of Americana as an immigrant woman of color.
